Bronx River Camera Trap
Images of Note
These are images captured by a camera trap near a stand of Japanese knotweed which was removed by zookeepers, along the Bronx River. Below are some imaged captured by a camera trap PRE-REMOVAL of Japanese knotweed. Below are images captured by the same camera trap within 2 weeks after removal of the Japanese knotweed.
In the Fall of 2016, two sites were compared along the Bronx River. The first site was near a stand of Japanese knotweed. The second site had no Japanese knotweed present. Here is a link to a WCS Wild Blog post I wrote about my study : Wildlife vs. Plant Invaders and my paper: Use of camera traps to investigate if the presence of invasive Japanese knotweed (Fallopia japonica) affects wildlife abundance along the Bronx River, New York City, USA. Below are images captured at Site #1: The site with no Japanese Knotweed present Below are images captured from Site#2; next to a stand of Japanese Knotweed.
